Don't Fall Behind Decorate Your Home for The Holidays

It's the time of year that we start getting our homes ready for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday, and making our holiday shopping list. Then we start wondering what should I do to get my home ready for these two amazing holidays?! Plus, decorate my home for the most wonderful time of year...FALL!

Fall Foliage Arrangement
The key to arranging leaves is to group them by size and color as you would flowers. Fiery red maple makes a beautiful focal point when countered with the feathery foliage of dawn redwood laden with globes of gray-green fruit on the fringes.

Pumpkin Topiary

Vertical displays make a big statement at the front door. Tucking in cool-weather edibles such as ornamental flowering cabbages, kale, and bay leaves adds a distinctive twist. To create topiaries, sandwich bay wreaths between pumpkins stacked in concrete urns, and top with a small pumpkin.

Rustic Centerpiece

Naturally shed antlers lend a new twist to table decor. Pile them up with different-colored pumpkins, pine cones, and loose nuts and bring the outdoors in.

Use Color for Impact

A neutral backdrop of white linens and dishes puts the focus on punches of orange and green.

Candlelight Dinner

Complete your tablescape by adding candles in fun lanterns that complement your color palatte. Mix in simple canning jars for a more casual affair.

Don't Neglect Your Outdoor Space
A cascading display down the stairs allows you to use bigger ones that have more presence and are visible from the road. Position them on their sides or stack them on planters for an original look.

Whether it's Thanksgiving or Christmas, celebrate your favorite holiday with these great ideas. Transform your table centerpiece for the holidays!

Updated Holiday Display

Make simple Christmas ornaments the center of attention by arranging them in a square, clear glass vessel wrapped with pretty ribbon. Set the package on a silver tray, then embellish the inside and outside of the display with faux snow and additional baubles.





Color Continuum

Choosing green fruit and holiday Christmas ornaments creates a cohesive color scheme and adds a sense of understated elegance to your dinner table.






Evergreen Candles
Let the winter greenery creep into this clever candle display. Start with a glass votive, wineglass, or hurricane as the candle holder. Choose a flat pine needle branch like the fragrant arborvitae. Apply spray adhesive to one side of the greenery and press firmly onto the glass. Clip off loose pine ends if needed.

The tree featured on above and on the right was inspired by our clients home decor in the Lake Norman, NC area.  Our client "Jena" wanted her holiday decorating colors of reds, golds, and creams to accent the living room, dining room and foyer area of the home.  Tonia of Innovative Holiday Decorating and Interiors quotes; "Creating Christmas tree toppers, and holiday themed decors for our clients allows me to think out the box and be creative with different holiday decorations.  I love to go shopping for decorations and/or use existing decorations from our clients. Holiday decorating is a true passion of mine and I look forward to each and every holiday. Inspired by the beauty of this traditional dining room, we chose holiday decorations from our local holiday suppliers, Pier One, Southern Roots and Pottery Barn to create this table centerpiece for our clients family Christmas party. 

One of our favorite Christmas tree toppers....okay we like them all! This tree was special because it was placed in the master bedroom of our clients home, so they could enjoy the beauty and Christmas lights while relaxing in their master bedroom. Love the Frontgate holiday decorations, and the Southern Roots decorations we selected for this tree. Tonia, once again created a custom Christmas tree topper using decorations that inspired their client.

Holiday Decorating for Small Spaces in Charlotte NC

  

Looking for some great ideas on decorating small spaces this holiday in your home in Charlotte, NC? 

Thanks to Better Homes and Gardens they have some great photos and ideas below on how to decorate your small spaces for the holidays.

Hang Festive Plates
Dish up cheer with this simple holiday plate display. Cut letters from red paper or purchase stick-on vinyl letters to adhere to white plates. Removable mounting strips or plate hangers make this stunning seasonal sentiment easy to dismantle.



Use Window Space
Simplicity is key for small-space decorating.
White pillar candles, placed on a silver tray, add elegance to a
windowsill. Two faux dwarf evergreens, wrapped in burlap, add a bit of color to the wintry scene.

Fill a Corner
Nooks, crannies, shelves, bookcases: All are
great spots for diminutive seasonal decor.
If there's no space for a full tree, put a single dwarf version -- with a few presents --
on a midheight shelf. In place of lights, decorate with small-scale ornaments.

Decorate with Small Wreaths
Large and impactful are typical design credos
for wreaths, but small can be equally as mighty. Hang a mini wreath with a
velvet or satin ribbon from shelves or drawer pulls.



Use Space by the Stairs
A small table by the stairs is a prominent
small-space spot to start your Christmas merriment.
Add a little, lightly decorated tree and a modest display to the tabletop. To
give the evergreen a bit of height, place in a tall silver vase.

2013 Sneak peak Holiday and Christmas Decorations! Look what is coming this holiday season! 

Pier One has a sneak peak of their holiday decorations to get you ready for the upcoming holidays! After all, 48 more days before "fall" is here (my favorite season), and the months that end with "ber". When school starts back in August...the fall months follow right after, and the seasonal holidays to follow. It's always great to be an early bird, and start making your holiday shopping and decorating list, to prepare for your family and friends to visit during the holidays and Christmas.
